提防港鐵職員打俾你!

The Anti-Scam Education and Research Programme team would like to draw your attention to recent scam cases related to disguising as MTR staff.

The MTR (Shenzhen) recently received many reports from travelers claiming that scammers disguised as MTR staff and called travelers via phone. The fake MTR staff would tell travelers that they have violated some laws or rules so they need to pay for penalties. The phone call was then transferred to fake police officers.

We would therefore like to remind you to stay alert of any potential scam cases. Always remember that the MTR staff do not contact travelers directly via phone. If there is any notice relating to the services of MTR, MTR shall announce through its official channels, including website, weibo, or WeChat official account. Therefore:

1. NEVER provide your personal data, including your HK ID card number, bank account, etc.,  if a “MTR staff” or a “police officer” contacts you via phone.

2. HANG UP IMMEDIATELY. You can double confirm with the MTR (Shenzhen) customer hotline: +86 755 29276688.

3. NEVER trust the caller even he can tell your personal data. Scammers always have ways to get hold of your personal data before they call you!

If you are in any doubt, please call the Police’s anti-deception hotline: 18222, or inform your RC warden or your teacher immediately.
